Conjectures and principles of football training.

Not only in football, but in other sports, a series of training principles have been determined and standardized. These principles have been more than proven over the years with experience and with sufficient scientific bases so that we can all take them into account and believe that they are irrefutable and non-negotiable in our planning and methodology.

Training principles in football.

On the other hand, considering football as a complex and unpredictable sport, some of its knowledge is in the hands of experts, sports scholars, and enthusiasts of its practice who establish a series of conjectures, with a validity equal to or greater than those of the famous ones. principles of training” with characteristics more typical of individual sports.

Increasingly we see in the elite of our sport, coaches and coaching staffs experienced and hardened in a thousand battles. Of course your methodology will be “top” in most occasions and cases, but I am happy to think that the difference in quality between the most successful and those who are not, is in that beautiful ability to analyze through experience what what has worked and what hasn’t, regardless of what books or manuals tell us.

Conjectures from football training.

We understand by conjectures, the concepts and statements supported by indications, observations, symptoms and opinions extracted from the practice of the sports expert based on knowledge based on the sciences of complexity.

Paco Seirulo (2017)

With experience, and being increasingly in contact with coaches and technical colleagues with great experience, knowledge and great adaptability to different football contexts, I reaffirm the relevance of these conjectures and, above all, their implementation. In this blog article, I would like to share with you some of them, based on the notes and reflections of Professor Paco Seirulo and in some way propose reflection, debate and subsequent feedback on all or some of them:

  • Conjecture utility and time efficiency. It refers to the amount of time in the session and in the week that is necessary to optimize a certain system or structure and thus be temporarily efficient. It would be like the time it takes for an SSP to cause a desired optimizing effect in the player, known as the “change effect.” As there is limited time available in training sessions, an intention is needed in each of the actions to promote efficiency and quality in the management of efforts. Manipulation in terms of variability or summation in the complexity of the structures is very relevant to avoid reaching a plateau or a decrease in the learning of the trained content.
  • Hologrammatic Conjecture. Like a hologram, it represents the vision or capacity of a training situation to be able to reach the greatest number of structures and their optimization. Its definition refers to the perceptive capacity (from the mind to consciousness), with the ability to capture and gather information that is present, and that is produced or that can be produced during the game. In an effective succession of our training, we could relate it to maximum efficiency within the complexity of the game.
  • Synergetic Conjecture. It refers to the practice of different training sequences seeking the synergistic effect between them. It would be the way that complex systems have to reach a main objective of the session, not by accumulation or analytical repetitions, but by the search for synergies and progression in the levels of complexity of the training situations. These synergistic effects occur between the components of successive Preferential Simulating Situations practiced in the same session (synchronously) and also in successive sessions (diachronically) during the Structured Microcycle.
  • Inter-Systemic Conjecture. It is precisely this form of relationship that is called “inter-systemic”, when any optimizing effect of a system expands its change to other systems of the high structures involved simultaneously. There is a possibility that, when optimizing a player structure, a self-optimization of other systems or structures may simultaneously occur.
  • Conjecture Suitability. It refers to the aptitude, good predisposition or capacity that someone has for a specific, adequate and appropriate purpose. The preferential simulation situations must be presented in an ideal way to achieve the player’s improvement in what the game requires. At different times, especially at a temporal level, the player’s experience, moment of the season and strong and weak links of the team, we find a series of stimuli that are more suitable than others. When generating the Preferential Simulating Situations, it is necessary to identify what is specific and peculiar to the specialty in which one is training to understand it in all its totality and complexity.
